Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19http://tay.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/board-news/127Closures and cancellations due to COVID-19<div><strong>On May 19, the Premier’s Office announced that all publicly funded schools in Ontario will remain closed for the duration of the 2019-2020 school year, in response to COVID-19</strong>. As such, Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) schools and adult learning centres will not reopen on May 31, 2020. The decision to extend the school closure period for the remainder of the school year is based on advice from Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health in order to protect the health and safety of students, families and staff. <br></div><div><br></div><div>The following programs/meetings will not run or are closed:<br></div><div><ul><li>Permits (Community Use of Schools)</li><li>All EarlyON and Child Care Centres</li><li>Adult and continuing education</li><li>Dual Credit and Cooperative education programs<br></li><li><div>Special Education Advisory Committee (June 1, 2020)<br></div></li><li><div>Business and Facilities Standing Committee (June 3, 2020)</div></li><li><div>Program Standing Committee (June 10, 2020)<br></div></li><li><div>Human Resources Standing Committee (June 10, 2020)<br></div></li><li><div>First Nations Education Advisory Committee (June 11, 2020)<br></div></li></ul></div><div>In addition, the Education Centre and the Career Centre are closed to the public.<br></div><div><br></div><div>Learn more at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19">www.scdsb.on.ca/covid-19</a><br></div>

School Cash Refundshttp://tay.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/221School Cash Refunds<p>​We would like to notify Tay Shores families that because of the school closure announcment we have refunded School Cash accounts for those who had already paid for the following:</p><p>March/April Pizza</p><p>Milk</p><p>April Subs</p><p>**NOTE**</p><p>We have refunded Pizza for the days we know we will not be open.<br></p><p>We have refunded $10 for Milk accounts to account for the additional 2 weeks we will not be open.</p><p>We have refunded ALL April Sub money and will be discontinuing Sub orders for the remainder of the school year.</p><p>It may take a few days for all refunds to be reflected in your School Cash accounts<br></p>

Grade 1 French Immersion Information Night for Kindergarten Familieshttp://tay.scdsb.on.ca/about-us/news/school-news/212Grade 1 French Immersion Information Night for Kindergarten Families<p>​</p><p>The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) offers French Immersion (FI) at select schools throughout the county. Intake into FI begins in Grade 1. This optional program is designed to develop students' abilities to communicate in French with a high level of proficiency, enabling them to function with ease in both English and French.  </p><p>Students from our school who enroll in FI will attend Mundy's Bay for Grades 1 - 4 and Huron Park for Grades 5 - 8.</p><p>An information session about the FI program for families of students in Year 2 Kindergarten will take place at Mundy's Bay Public School 340 Sixth Street, Midland, ON on Tuesday, November 26<sup>th</sup> at 6:00pm</p><p>At this information session, you will learn more about:</p><ul><li>the program content and instruction</li><li>the application process</li><li>transportation for students</li></ul><p>Parents/guardians will also have an opportunity to ask questions about the program.<br> <br>If you are unable to attend the information session, you're welcome to attend another session held at a different school. Please note that information specific for Mundy's Bay may not be available at a different session. The dates and times for all FI Family Information Nights are available at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/">www.scdsb.on.ca</a> under Elementary, French as a Second Language.</p><p><strong>Application dates in December</strong><br><strong> </strong>To apply for FI, you must complete the online application form at <a href="http://www.scdsb.on.ca/">www.scdsb.on.ca</a> under Elementary, French as a Second Language. If you do not have Internet access at home, please contact me for assistance with accessing the online application.</p><p>The online Grade 1 French Immersion application form will be available from <strong>9 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019</strong> until <strong>4 p.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019</strong>. In Grade 1, enrollment in the FI Program is limited to a maximum of two classes of 20 students per class at each host site for the FI program. The electronic applications will be processed in the order determined by a digitally randomized lottery system. The registration link will not appear until 9 a.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019.</p><p>When registering, you will need to provide the following information:</p><ul><li>child's name</li><li>date of birth</li><li>address</li><li>current school board child attends</li><li>parent/guardian name</li><li>home/work/mobile telephone number</li><li>parent/guardian email address</li></ul><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Locations can change</strong><br> Please note that the host sites for FI may change during your child's time in the program, and your child may need to move schools as a result. </p><p><strong>Transportation</strong></p><p>Centralized community bus stops will be established to provide access for students to attend the specialized program.
